How do these lyrics to a Kenny Rogers song and Romans speak the same message to my heart this day?
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28
“She said, "I'm no quitter"
But I finally quit living on dreams
I'm hungry for laughter
And here ever after
I'm after whatever the other life brings”
- Lucille by Kenny Rogers
Although this song is about a wife leaving her husband and kids this section above jumped out to me and He used them to work for my good this morning!
You see I have had a dream in my heart! Honestly, more than one with hopeful time lines to them.
> A book I have listened to several times over the past month has a chapter named “Follow Your Heart: The Worst Advice Ever.”
👉🏼 I mean just look at these Proverbs alone… Proverbs 21:2, 16:2, 14:12, 16:25.
👉🏼 Not to mention Matthew 7 & Luke 7 where Jesus says that we are to follow His Voice. It doesn’t say follow your heart.
• Such deception I have partnered with in following my heart! My heart is not trustworthy. I don’t even know my own motives. I think I do but only God does.
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. Which in Galatians 5 joy here is a noun. It is what we become when we abide in Him! When we become joy laughter comes and it is truly the other way to live!! It is the life of the Kingdom! Joy is in the Holy Spirit! The Kingdom is the rule and reign of Jesus in my heart by the Holy Spirit!
I am hungry for pain to go away!
I am hungry for joy and laughter!
I am hungry for the way of the “other life” and what it brings - The Kingdom!
So, as I learn to quit living on dreams, following my heart and I learn to live the way of the other life I ask forgiveness from any of you that have or will come in contact with that don’t encounter His joy in me!!
This will be a retraining, a learning with many failings but I am ready to return to joy! 💃🏼
